Heel Grounders

An ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) heel grounder, also known as an ESD heel strap or ESD shoe strap, is a device used to mitigate the risk of electrostatic discharge in environments where sensitive electronic components or equipment are handled.

Electrostatic discharge occurs when there's a sudden flow of electricity between two objects with different electric potentials. This can happen when a person walks on a surface and builds up static electricity due to friction with the surface. If this static electricity discharges onto an electronic component, it can potentially damage or disrupt the functioning of that component.

ESD heel grounders are designed to prevent the buildup of static electricity on individuals by providing a controlled path for the charge to dissipate safely to the ground. They typically consist of a conductive strap or band that attaches to a person's shoe or heel, and the other end of the strap is connected to a grounding point, such as a grounding mat or a special ESD flooring.
